The recent death of 43-year-old US actor Chadwick Boseman has registered a new record in the history of Twitter in terms of the most liked ever tweet on the social media platform.
The statement confirming the 'Black Panther' star’s death from cancer has grabbed well beyond 7m likes on Twitter as a new record in the history of the social media platform.
The previous most-liked tweet was by former US president Barack Obama, with 4.3m and the large gap with that of Boseman shows the popularity of the artist on a whole new level.
The post said that his most famous roles were “filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy”, adding, “The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
'Black Panther' director Ryan Coogler said of the actor's death, “[He] was an anomaly. He was calm. Assured. Constantly studying. But also kind, comforting, had the warmest laugh in the world, ... but could still sparkle like a child seeing something for the first time.”
